What do Parents Want from Technology in the Classroom?
http://www.edudemic.com/2013/05/what-parents-want-from-technology-in-the-classroom/
I was genuinely surprised after I read this. It seems that parents really like the idea of having technology involved with their child's learning. Basically they just want to make sure that it is properly integrated, monitored, and used accordingly. In the study 2,392 parents were asked about child usage of mobile devices for all children ages 3-18, in their families. This makes for about 4,164 children collectively in that age range.
Like it or not, mobile devices are making their way into school probably for good. So we as educators are going to have to incorporate these things into our lesson plans. To be able to engage our students and help them use such devices in appropriate ways. Also since there are so many parents that are willing to buy these kinds of devices for their child to use for their education!

Mr. Winkle Wakes by Mathew Needleman
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lm1sCsl2MQY
After watching this video, I am reminded of the fact that even though things have changed a lot in the past 100 years there are some things that have remained the same. We have a ton of stuff nowadays that has been invented to make our lives easier but it really has just made us lazier. Back in the old days people had to use what little resources they had just to survive.
But today we have had the boom of the technological age and that is I think part of what is wrong with the world today. There is a gap between the elderly generation and the younger generation which we need to try to bridge because we don't need to forget our past and where we came from but we also have to embrace our future and where we are headed.

Collaborative Digital Presentations Enrich Projects (Tech2Learn Series)
http://www.edutopia.org/tech-to-learn-collaborative-digital-presentations-video
Watching this video it made start thinking about the chemistry class that I took my sophomore year of high school and it was not even anything remotely close to what was happening in the video. We just sat there while the teacher lectured and you either took notes or you didn't. Then if it was a day that we got to do a lab then she told us what we were doing and we did the experiment as a class step by step. Things have and are definitely changing.
The idea of having the students teach the concepts to the class is an innovative and compelling thought. I think this is one way to help students learn the material better instead of just brow beating it into them. I also believe that using the technology in the classroom is another important factor in helping to keep the kids engaged in what they are studying. Also they are doing so much more than just learning one subject by doing this type of project which is helping prepare them for later in life.

This video talks about some key points to improve public education such as Project-Based Learning, Technology Integration, Integrated Studies, Cooperative Learning, Comprehensive Assessment, Emotional Intelligence, Teacher Preparation, Parent Involvement, Community Partners. This video was very informative and influential. Not only did this clarify some questions that I had about the educational system as a whole but it also gave me some ideas on how I might want to conduct my own classroom. I believe that videos such as this are an effective means for preparing future teachers to work in the field of education.
Teacher Preparation is one aspect that really stuck out to me from watching this video. I believe it is very important for future teachers to be adequately prepared for the classroom. I liked the idea of getting perspective teachers into the classroom early during their education so they can see what being inside the classroom is really like. I agree that it's also beneficial to continue observing and learning from other teachers even after you have your own classroom. Integrated studies seems like it would be one way to help teach a subject and keep students especially those in secondary grades interested in learning.
